The contest in AI is moving from models and compute to deployment in real industries, and that shift makes China and Canada more complementary than they have been in years.
On 4 November 2026, INP Capital and the Canada China Friendship and Goodwill Association (CCFGA) visited the Caohejing AI Accelerator in Shanghai and spent an afternoon with three AI companies. It was the first stop of a programme the two organisations launched together to connect Chinese AI companies with innovation and investment partners in Canada.

Why now, and why Canada
Chinese AI companies have something few others have at the same scale: dense application scenarios and fast commercial feedback. A group of them now have mature products and proven models, and are looking for a second market.
Canada brings what that group usually lacks. It has deep research capacity, with institutes such as Amii, Mila and the Vector Institute; a location that connects to the whole North American market; and federal and provincial programmes for industry.
One side has scenarios and speed. The other has research depth and market access. The programme is built on that gap.
What the programme does
The programme is project-led. Through briefings, product showcases and closed-door meetings, it helps Chinese AI companies that already have commercial traction work out whether, where and how to establish themselves in Canada, and explores incubation and market-entry partnerships along the way.
CCFGA works to move Canada–China ties from exchange towards building industry together. On the Canadian side, it draws on four layers of support:
- federal and provincial economic development agencies and local governments, which shape where a company lands and what support it can apply for;
- research institutes and universities, for technical collaboration and talent;
- industry associations, channel partners and professional services covering legal, tax, employment and certification;
- Chinese-Canadian community and alumni networks, often a company's first customers and advisers in North America.
Three companies, three routes abroad
The three companies at Caohejing work in different directions:
- sports-analysis technology built for elite competition, being turned into consumer hardware;
- AI companionship products already validated in their home market, now looking further afield;
- an end-to-end chain from AI creation to physical products, giving digital characters a tangible form.

What they share matters more than what separates them: a mature product, a business model that has been tested, and a clear intention to go abroad. That is the profile the programme is screening for. Being investable is not enough; a company also has to be ready to cross a border.
Why start at Caohejing
The Caohejing AI Accelerator sits in the Caohejing national-level development zone, which has more than forty years of industrial history. It focuses on the "1 to 10" stage of AI companies, across AI infrastructure and agents, AIGC and gaming, AI for science, and embodied intelligence and smart hardware. It links technology validation, pilot conversion and commercialisation, with its own compute platform and direct connections to industrial supply chains.
For a company going abroad, that matters for one reason: what leaves China has already been tested in real industrial settings.
What comes next
We intend to take this pairing of a national incubator, international investors and overseas industry resources to more cities. Incubators, industry partners and AI companies looking at North America can reach us at info@inp-capital.com.
The Pacific is wide enough for innovation on both sides.

- 联邦与省级经济发展机构及地方政府的产业对接渠道,决定项目"落在哪个省、获得什么支持";
- 研究机构与高校网络,支撑技术合作与人才供给;
- 本地行业协会、渠道伙伴,以及法律、税务、用工、认证等专业服务机构;
- 以服务国际顶级赛事的运动分析技术为底座,让专业级 AI 能力沉淀为大众消费级硬件;
- 深耕 AI 情感陪伴,产品已被市场充分验证,正把目光投向更远的市场;
